Conception Of The Swirl Element

How did you come up with the idea for the swirl element?

After showing my design to the tutor, he advised that it wouldn’t be good for the website to be too clinical. He suggested I make a device to add something to the design.

I decided to use a part of this design.

I thought about having it to the left of the title.

I thought about having it to the right of the title.

Here I am in Illustrator, rotating, flipping and editing the vector every way I can think of.

Here are two outcomes of the process above.

Not sure about this one. It just doesn’t feel 100%.

Here I am trying to make another idea fit.

Here I am realising that a design with a straight part is realistically the best way forward since everything else I am trying is not working.

Here I am trying out my ideas.

This looks better! More comfortable.

Here is how it looks in its final placement.
This process took one day.

Conception Of The Footer Design

My client had previously told me that he liked green. I saw this jacket in T K Maxx. It was similar to the green which the client had showed me. I used the colour picker tool.

I blogged about this design which I made on 15th April.

I thought this design would be perfect for the footer. This device helps my design to stay away from being too clinical.

Here is the final placement of the elements.

Vectors – Day 5

Its Day 5. My hand was starting to hurt at this point. The tutor had suggested I use a hedera in my design. I wanted to try it. I liked this one.

It means ivy.

Since I noticed that my designs were sometimes unbalanced, I thickened the stroke. The coloured lines are guides.

Mmm this turned out quite well. I thought that the smaller parts might be too small.

I think this one turned out really well. I tried to use bigger elements. The butterfly looks a bit small I suppose.

I had to stop at this point because my hand was hurting. It was obviously a repetitive strain injury. I quite like the last one I made here. Designing these things is difficult! I might make some more. Its lucky I’ve got this one to fall back on if none of these turn out well.
