I’ve posted about the packaging of Lily-Flame Scented Tins before here. I attempted to find out which font they use. A friend asked for a candle for Christmas so I got her some. I took photos of the lovely packaging.
After watching Katie Holmes play Say Anything With Jimmy Fallon on YouTube, I wanted to know where Katie got her beautiful dress from. I did a quick search and clicked on one of the results. On the side of the page was the following ad.
I thought oooo I really like those fonts and the design in general. At a later point, I reloaded the page and the ad was there again but in a different colour:
I clicked on the ad and immediately fell in love with what I saw, see below. This website design is for a company called Create & Cultivate. I love everything about it from the fonts, to the layout, to the menu and the colour scheme. Beautiful! I am inspired to find out which fonts these are and I will post the results in the future.
So followers, as you know, back in the summer of 2013 I tried to find out which font the NYX cosmetics brand uses in their logo. Out of the blue I was contacted by a graphic designer called Max Franosch. He posted the following comment:
‘I am 99.9% sure their logo is based on my font Linotype Franosch Medium (2002). The stroke width is identical when you place my font over their logo. All they have done is slightly stretch the characters horizontally to create their logo. The C has been flipped to create their N. The Y, they just gotten rid of the circle and extended the stroke downwards.’ Here is the diagram Max sent me which illustrates his comment:
So what do you think followers? Leave your comments below. A big thank you to Max for his contribution!!
Here is what Linotype Franosch Medium (2002) looks like for those of you that would like to know.
Here I am trying more ideas for the logo. Its going to take quite a few attempts before I get it right. You can always tell when its right because it feels right. That’s how design works. I thought I’d try ideas using this picture from Shutterstock.
I’m making a website for a friend. He needs a new logo too. Here is my first start into the project. I like the idea of using a blue rose in the logo. I searched in Shutterstock.
I found another nice text effect tutorial:
I would definitely recommend this tutorial. It’s not that difficult and there are no mistakes. You should give it a try.
Here is where I got the wood pattern from:
I liked the look of this fun text effect. I thought I’d give the tutorial a try.
This is the effect I should be able to make.
I’m not sure I’d necessarily recommend this tutorial since I think it contains a number of mistakes. The colour for the color overlay on the base layer is actually ca1818. Also the author didn’t mention that the fill on the layers needs to be set at 0% on both the Hard and Sugar layers. If you download the author’s PSD files you can work out how to do it.
Here is the version I made.
I think it turned out really well! It took a really long time though because of the mistakes in the tutorial. Here is how my layers palette looks in case you want to try it yourself.
