I’ve posted about the packaging of Lily-Flame Scented Tins before here. I attempted to find out which font they use. A friend asked for a candle for Christmas so I got her some. I took photos of the lovely packaging.
I love the Create & Cultivate logo. Its very on trend and attractive. Here it is:
Its always harder to find a font when each letter is linked together like this. It could be worse though. When the word is on a patterned background then its really difficult. Its even more annoying when the word is written in white AND on a patterned background.
I used Photoshop to break the word up and put the sample into myfonts.com
Here are the results
I thought number 8 was a really close match. I tried it out at cufonfonts.com
How could I be sure that it is Mission Script though? I decided to upload the sample to the What The Font Forum. They got back to me very quickly.
I was right! It is Mission Script. Thanks Tecnotronic 🙂
Mission Script was created by James T. Edmondson and his friends. How awesome is that? I’d love to make a typeface with my friends. Can’t see that happening though 😦
Description of the typeface.
After watching Katie Holmes play Say Anything With Jimmy Fallon on YouTube, I wanted to know where Katie got her beautiful dress from. I did a quick search and clicked on one of the results. On the side of the page was the following ad.
I thought oooo I really like those fonts and the design in general. At a later point, I reloaded the page and the ad was there again but in a different colour:
I clicked on the ad and immediately fell in love with what I saw, see below. This website design is for a company called Create & Cultivate. I love everything about it from the fonts, to the layout, to the menu and the colour scheme. Beautiful! I am inspired to find out which fonts these are and I will post the results in the future.
Decided to get my brows tinted and threaded today at my local Blink Brow Bar! Here are the before photos. I took these outside Fenwick just before I walked in. Sorry they aren’t very good quality but you get the idea.
I specifically asked the therapist to please remove the hair that is peripheral while keeping the hair that is necessary for a fuller shape.
Here is the result of the tint and threading as soon as I left the store. My skin isn’t that red considering. Sorry the photos aren’t very good quality. Scroll further down for much better quality photos.
The threading cost £17 and the tint cost £12. I’m really happy with the result. It looks natural. I got a stamp on my loyalty card. The card looks like this:
If you have any questions please ask in the comment section and I will be happy to help.
I picked this one because I like the way the type is centered. I’m not a massive fan of condensed typefaces but I think the title looks sophisticated here.
Here is some more centered type. Even though it looks really innocuous, I think it looks really sophisticated and it makes more of an impact because it’s really simple.
I picked this one because I like the typeface used here. I like the little box with type inside it too.
I picked these two because I like the modern typeface and the centered type. I also notice that the image on the right has a white border around it.
I picked these two because I like the modern typeface and the centered type. The only thing about centered type is I think it looks a bit austere and serious but I think the positives outweigh the negatives.
I picked this one because the image has a white border around it.
I picked this one because of the beautiful design on the front. I’m a big fan of bright colours against dark backgrounds. I’m hoping some of my designs will achieve a similar contrast. This design is very eye-catching.
I picked this one because of the way the columns are set out. I don’t feel this design is particularly great because it’s quite squashed up but I like the way the designer has arranged the columns in a creative manner. If the designer had of used more white space and less body text it could have looked good. Plus I don’t know why the columns have been arranged like that but at least the designer attempted something creative, even if it doesn’t really work very well.
I picked this one because it looks like the C is shaking. I picked the one below because of the large striking black shapes which I assume are type. Not sure if this kind of thing would be appropriate for my design.
I picked this one because I really like the way the pull quote is blue and how the blue colour extends to the adjacent body text. It’s a really clever effect.
I picked this one because I like the transparent and centered type.
I like this one because of the creative way the columns are arranged. I think this spread is more successful than the one above called ‘Paper Provokes’ because this one uses more white space and the elements can breath.
I included this one because I like the over sized apostrophe. It gives the page an interesting visual element.
Nice colourful type. If you look you can see an image of a distressed woman. The type reads ‘help for Japan’. Not sure what the white parts are meant to be. The colour combination is very striking.
I included this because of the centered type and the over-size ‘A’. It’s very striking. The use of the white space in the two spreads underneath is interesting.
I’ve been looking at how type can be centered. It looks minimal and makes an impact. It also looks sophisticated. I will see if I can use this in my ideas. It has also been interesting to see how graphic designers use white space.
I was browsing the internet and accidentally came across the following article: ‘The Enchanted Woodland…on the outskirts of London: Gardens around Duke of Northumberland’s second home are lit up to create a magical winter trail for walkers‘ on the dailymail.co.uk
My reaction to these photos was ‘wooooooow this is exactly what I want to do!’ So I was very happy that I found an idea. I looked up how far away the gardens are and they are a three-hour train journey away. So that was a bit disappointing. I felt that was a bit too far. A relative suggested I go to the skating rink in the park in the centre of my town. I thought ‘Yes!! What a great idea!’
I love these pictures. They remind me of when I made my header design from photographs of my friends Christmas tree lights. I love all the colours and the way it looks quite mysterious. It was fortuitous that I saw this article. It will be interesting to see if I can get some good photos from the skating rink in the park.
